Natural vs Plastic Christmas Tree and Carbon Emissions
November 28, 2018 - Less than a minute readIf you are wondering “is it more sustainable to have a natural tree Christmas tree of a plastic one”, the scale tips towards the natural one. If you are curious, “by how much”, the answer can sometimes be shocking. A natural Christmas produces 7lb of carbon emissions (if burnt as firewood), while a plastic Christmas tree or a similar size produces close to 12 time of that!
This makes the math fairly straightforward, unless the artificial trees are used for 12 years or more, it is more efficient to get a natural tree.
